1000 year old cross is damaged. We have received sad news from Gulatinget. The celtic cross from 1023, situated outside the church in Eivindvik was broken today.

The tragedy happened as a crew started to cut down a nearby tree, which was considered a possible threat to the cross.  Unfortunately a branch fell directly onto the cross causing it to break.
